A home visit and $100 adoption donation apply. Hello, my name is Radar and I'm a male 1-year old German Shepherd/Labrador mix...but mostly Shepherd! I am completely house broken and will let you know if I need to go outside. I've had a rough start, having been to a second home in my short life, and when those owners decided they didn't want me. My foster moms rescued me so I could find a really good furever home. I'm super smart, although a bit stubborn, but I ... (Read More)love to please my human. The stubborn part probably comes from not being given any training at all in the past and not getting to socialize much. My foster moms have been teaching me how to walk properly on a leash, but I still like to pull and I'm super strong so you have to continue to work with me on that. They taught me to enjoy my crate and will go in with a treat...I'll even go in and lay down on my own with the door open just to take a nap. I really REALLY love kids and love to play with them but I play a bit rough so kids that are a little older would be best with me because I may knock down a toddler by mistake and hurt them. I show too much interest in cats, I like to chase them. I'm a dog! Speaking of dogs, I love playing with other dogs if they're almost as big or bigger than me. Did I mention that I like to play? I will MAKE you play with me, I'll throw my toys at you, and I'll jump on you...yes, I need to work on that too. I'm really agile so maybe I can learn to catch a frisbee! I'd love that almost as much as I love playing tug-of-war or chasing my ball! I do have a few quirks in that I'm a bit nervous around some people....not aggressive, but very apprehensive and I may back away and bark at them and try to hide behind someone to stare at them. I also LOVE my caregivers and get a little anxious when they go outside and will run window to window looking for them. When they come back inside, I act like they've been gone forever! My foster mom says I have a touch of separation anxiety. Given time and socialization I know I'll be able to overcome these quirks. I have lots of energy and love to run so my new family would need to have a fenced in yard so I can get lots of exercise. Did you see the ears on me? Nothing gets past me...I'm very alert and will warn you anytime anyone comes near the house or to the door. I fancy myself somewhat of an alarm system. Everyone needs one of those! I did mention that I'm very agile, so I would love to be with a family who has an active lifestyle. I'd be the perfect running or hiking partner and because I'm so smart it wouldn't take much to teach me how to be one of those super cool agility competing dogs! Not only am I a stunningly beautiful dog, but with some time and obedience training, you will have found an incredibly loyal and special dog!
